Research Overview


    School of mechanical engineering has made outstanding achievements in scientific research, education and academic team building in resent five years. As a host department, the school was awarded with the second prize of National Natural Science for once, first prize of Nationwide Teaching Achievement for three times, and one dissertation was rated as National Excellent 100 Doctoral Dissertations. The first national-level innovative research group for mechanical engineering discipline was established in this school. In 2007, the discipline of mechanical engineering became one of the first batch of National level key disciplines, and ranked twelfth in the national discipline assessment in mechanical engineering in 2008.

    This department has 198 staffs, of whom there are 46 professors (27 are doctoral supervisors), 56 associate professors, 3 ChangJiang Scholar specially engaged Professors, 1 professor of the national one thousand talents scheme, 3 Outstanding Young Investigator Award winners, 12 national and provincial level outstanding contribution experts, 3 academic and technical leaders of sichuan province. 87 teachers have doctoral degrees. A batch of young and mid-aged academic scholars introduced from abroad or autonomously trained gradually became academic leaders. And with young and mid-aged academic scholars as the main force, a high-level teaching team with rational structure, strong capacity, innovation spirit has been formed.

    The major research fields of this school include: tribology and surface engineering, modern design and theory, hoisting transportation and logistics equipment, mechanical electrical hydraulic complex intelligent technology, heating & ventilation and industrial aerodynamics, modern electromechanical testing and control technology, digital control technique and virtual manufacturing, innovative design of automobile and internal combustion engine, vehicle and urban railway equipment technology, robot mechanism and design automation, etc. In recent years, the school undertakes nearly 200 national and provincial level projects including 973, 863 and national natural science funds.
