The Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation is a non-profit foundation established in 1860 by the Federal Republic of Germany to promote international research cooperation in honor of the great natural scientist and scientific expedition traveler Alexander Von Humboldt (1769 -1859). The Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation has a rigorous selection process that provides fellowships to approximately 500 outstanding foreign scholars with doctoral degrees and no more than 40 years of age each year to do scientific research in Germany for a certain period of time (1-2 years). The Central Selection Committee of the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation consists of 100 German scientists from all disciplines and is responsible for the selection of applicants under the support of the Chairman of the German Research Association. The only criterion for selection is the academic level regardless of country and without professional restrictions.
