School of Mechanical Engineering Launches "Xing Yuan" Brand Cultural Activity—Young Faculty Academic Exchange Luncheon

The Union of the School of Mechanical Engineering organized and carried out the "Xing Yuan" brand cultural activity—the Young Faculty Academic Exchange Luncheon. Yuan Yanping, Secretary of the School Party Committee, Guo Liang, National High-Level Young Talent, Zhang Yafei, Director of the Comprehensive Affairs Office and Vice Chair of the Trade Union, Jiang Qunhua, Director of the Faculty Services Office, and representatives of young faculty members participated in this activity. The event was presided over by Wang Wenjian, Vice Dean of the School.

Secretary Yuan Yanping pointed out that this activity was mainly to build a communication platform for young faculty, break through the first barrier of communication among them, and establish a good exchange mechanism for young faculty. He hoped that the teachers could speak freely, combine their actual situations, and raise problems encountered in their personal development as well as the support they hope to receive.

Guo Liang, combining his own growth experience, shared insights from three aspects: personal basic situation, types of projects young faculty can apply, and accumulation of personal academic achievements. He particularly emphasized that young faculty should integrate with the characteristics of the university and the school, refine their academic direction as early as possible, pay attention to the focus areas of various project applications, and actively engage in academic exchanges.

While introducing themselves, the participating young faculty members raised issues regarding their personal development and the support they hoped to receive based on their actual situations. These issues mainly focused on refining personal research directions, teaching, and insufficient familiarity with the university.

In response to the questions raised by the young faculty, the participants fully communicated and responded one by one. They expressed the hope that the newly recruited young faculty would fully consider the characteristics of the university and the school, integrate their own advantages to refine suitable research directions. Additionally, the school will vigorously promote the course teaching team model to involve young faculty in teaching. They also hoped that the young faculty would actively participate in various activities of the school to integrate into the school as soon as possible and grow rapidly.
