The Sichuan Engineering Laboratory of Control and Energy Conservation for Green Built Environment is affiliated with the School of Mechanical Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University. The laboratory was established on November 18, 2016, with the approval of the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission. The laboratory aims to improve the economic construction and social development of Sichuan province. It focuses on the energy-saving and environment-friendly industries, especially the urgent need for technological progress and the transformation of scientific achievements in the fields of control and energy saving technics for green built environment. The main research directions of the laboratory cover adaptive and multifunctional integrated air-conditioning systems, energy conservation, high-efficiency sensor systems and intelligent control, and new materials for renewable energy.
The research contents of the laboratory include five major aspects, i.e., adaptive and multifunctional integrated air-conditioning systems, high-energy-efficiency sensing systems and intelligent control, energy storage with PCMs and renewable energy utilization, new materials for green built environment and clean energy utilization, and technologies of green building design. The lab improves the independent innovation capabilities in the field of advanced environment-friendly home appliances and green buildings in Sichuan Province, cultivates performance the from technological innovation to achievement transformation, build a bridge between industry and scientific research, and accelerate the development of scientific research results turning into products.
The laboratory currently maintains an area of approximately 1830 m2, the total value of laboratory equipment has reached more than 33.7 million yuan. There are 58 laboratory researchers in total, including 1 National Hundreds, Thousands, Ten-Thousands Talents, 1 Winner Of National Science Fund For Outstanding Young Scholars， and 1 Cheung Kong Scholar Professor, 2 Winners of Education Ministry's New Century Excellent Talents Supporting Plan in Sichuan Province, and 1 Winner of Sichuan Outstanding Youth Fund.
