Technology and Equipment of Rail Transit Operation and Maintenance Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province

Technology and Equipment of Rail Transit Operation and Maintenance Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province relies on the School of Mechanical Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University. It was approved and supported by the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province in December 2018 and passed the construction acceptance in September 2020. Focusing on the rail transit，the laboratory devotes to conduct systematic research on operation technology and equipment development of rail transit infrastructure (including bridges, tunnels, tracks, track beds, etc.）rolling stock, loading and unloading machinery in complex operating environments.

Dealing with the construction, operation and maintenance requirements of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway and other major projects in the extremely high-energy and complex geological environment, such as "significant topographical height difference, strong plate activity, frequent mountain disasters and fragile ecological environment", the laboratory aims to achieve the full life cycle safety guarantee and sustainable operation under the complex environment. The laboratory strives to resolve the key scientific problems around high-end operation and maintenance equipment, including modern design, integrated control of electro-mechanical-liquid-gas, service reliability and capacity maintenance, and systematic operation and maintenance management. Based on this, the systemic framework of technology, theory and product for rail transit operation and maintenance equipment working under the complex environment can be developed. Moreover, the domestic leading, international advanced research platform and person cultivation base for technology and equipment of rail transit operation and maintenance can be built based on the laboratory, which promotes the independent innovation of rail transit operation and maintenance equipment manufacturing industry in Sichuan and even the whole country.

The laboratory has four research fields, including advanced design and manufacturing of rail transit operation and maintenance equipment, intelligence of rail transit operation and maintenance equipment, service reliability of rail transit operation and maintenance equipment, safety and brake control of rail transit operation and maintenance equipment. The total construction area of the laboratory is 3230 square meters, and the instruments and equipment are worth 40 million yuan. At present, there are 21 permanent staff in the laboratory, including 2 Yangtze River Scholars, 2 outstanding youths, 1 outstanding youths, 3 new century outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education, 1 outstanding youths in Sichuan Province, 1 Tianfu 10,000 people, 1 high-level Sichuan Province talent, 2 outstanding contribution experts from Sichuan Province, and 1 Sichuan Youth Science and Technology Innovation Research Team.
