Transportation Equipment and Control Engineering

Department of Transportation Equipment and Control Engineering

The Department of Transportation Equipment and Control Engineering takes "thickening foundation, intensifying professionalism, emphasizing practice, adapting communication, and chasing innovation" as the basic idea of running a major, and establishes the engineering education concept of "oriented to industry, future, and the world". Guided by social needs, the department focuses on cultivating students' professional quality, engineering ability, and innovation consciousness, taking practical engineering as the background and engineering technology as the main line.

The Transportation Equipment and Control Engineering integrates transportation equipment technology and emerging technology, and comprehensively combines professional design, manufacturing, and control technology.

The program cultivates senior engineering and technical talents, who has the ability to combine theory and practice, coordinate technical work and management, and integrate innovation and marketing, with professional knowledge and skills on one of the options: EMU technology, engineering construction and equipment, urban rail vehicles, and automotive electronic engineering.

[Major and Department Structure]

The transportation equipment and control engineering offers FOUR options: EMU technology, engineering construction and equipment, urban rail vehicles, and automotive electronic engineering. Currently, there are more than 600 undergraduate students in the department.

There are 39 faculty members, including 11 instructors with senior titles and 10 instructors with doctoral degrees.

There are three sections for teaching and research, including the fundamental course section (including basic experiment center), the transportation equipment section, and transportation equipment control section, and an engineering training center.

[Teaching Concept]

The Department of Transportation Equipment and Control Engineering has inherited and carried forward the Jiaotong University’s "rigorous academic and strict requirements" tradition of "double strictness" and the spirit of "bide elite and self-improve continuously". We devote to education and teaching, as emphasizing students first, paying attention to, understanding and respecting people, Caring for people, and promoting and developing people’s spirit, to promote the comprehensive development and perfection of each in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, labor, etc., and to create comprehensively developed talents.

[Professional Training Goals]

The program will give students the ability to

(1) meet the needs of the modernization of transportation equipment in our country.

(2) master solid engineering foundations and the principles of modern vehicle and equipment structure, as well as specializations in measurement and control, network communication and transmission, information processing, mechatronics, etc.

(3) have good humanities regulations, professional ethics and social responsibility, necessary international vision and sense of innovation, and strong interpersonal communication and cooperation skills.

(4) integrate transportation equipment, information engineering, and mechatronics, on the basis of mastering and familiarizing with the structure and performance of transportation equipment.

(5) become senior comprehensive engineering and technical staffs engaged in the design and manufacture of modern vehicles and equipment, measurement, and network in the field of transportation equipment and control technology.

After graduation, for 5 years of on-job training in this professional field, most of the students can reach the level of engineers, and the outstanding ones can become principal technical members or supervisors.
